Metal Gear Arcade is shutting down on December 1, 2016.
Very sad to see it go, it's pretty much the last remnant of MGO2.
It's lost a lot of popularity, so I do understand why they're shutting it down.
Around a year ago or so, Droogie tried one out and couldn't find anyone to play with, he ended up playing some bots.
It's a really cool idea, and I would have loved to try one out myself.
Maybe we can get out hands on one in the future and give it a shot, but not sure. Trying to reverse engineer one of these doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun, though.

A lot of these were already phased out a couple years ago according to some arcade employees I spoke to when I was in Tokyo in 2014.

Re: Metal Gear Arcade Shutting Down
It's probably a stupid question, but
If you were somehow able to access an MG Arcade unit, do you think you would be able to salvage assets/whether they would be compatible at all?

Not sure really. We'd have to get one to find out.BusterHarvey wrote:It's probably a stupid question, but

Re: Metal Gear Arcade Shutting Down
Just bumping this thread to show you this.
Apparently MGA has been dumped online since last month and can be played on your PC. Only problem is, it's in Japanese, and you need to use a tool called "spicetools" to connect online. And yes, it's a P2P game, just like every other arcade game, only I'm not sure if there's a "free play" mode.
Still, this is awesome, in every way, now that we get to play this bad boy.

Re: Metal Gear Arcade Shutting Down
Are there any implications for this? Could this be reverse engineered or anything?
It'd be awesome if we could salvage content from this to put into MGO2R, or even see it on PC.
But that's very ambitious.
I would love to see L.L and a fully realised D.D come of this. Even the PW battle suit exclusive to Metal Gear Arcade, maybe.

Jayveer just took a look at the files. Most of the formats are almost identical to MGS4.BusterHarvey wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2018 2:23 amAre there any implications for this? Could this be reverse engineered or anything?

Re: Metal Gear Arcade Shutting Down
There is another map that we haven't seen before: Eastern Europe.

Lighting is really bad.
As a side note, I.I. was in the files but was never playable.

Re: Metal Gear Arcade Shutting Down
I’d really like to know more about this game. I’m really interested in the gameplay but also the maps we never got for mgo, would be awesome if they could be incorporated into mgo for us, some new content for this old game would be great!!
