Hosting on 256kbps

Is there a reason why you wouldnt host on 512? Does it make the game run smoother or something? What difference would i see playing as host on 256 compared with my usual setting of 512?

Oh right! Thanks for answering! So is it better to play on 256 as well, or just host on 256, to minimalise sponging? I always thought lower uploads cause sponging and that turbo-fire thing some people do.

Is the cup half full, or half empty? 512 reduces the body displacement (lag), and by doing so, makes you need to be more accurate on those players. It does not make you more laggy... If anything, I recommend you play on 96 for a week and then switch back to 512, you'll notice headshots register faster, among other things.

However, as far as hosting goes, there's no reason not to host on 512 if your internet is fully capable of supporting it. The above forum administrator is wrong, and SixthSensei you're correct. Lower uploads are more prone to those animation effects.
I've resigned. I am no longer involved with SaveMGO.

This is a really interesting topic. I recently noticed and can't decide if it is a mistake by Sony or maybe a misunderstanding by us/myself.

So I have 54MB dl and 10MB upload however when I go on PS3 I get 30Mbps. Now on first appearance these look pretty standard however for those that know MB and Mbps are different. That's 30 mega bits per second not mega bites. 8 bits in a bite would actually suggest I get 3.8 MEGABITES dl as opposed to the 30 it appeared at first glance.

What's everyone's thoughts on this? Is it an oversight by Sony and it actually does mean megabites or are we getting a lot less speed than we thought to our ps3s ?

The reason this is relevant to this topic if it isn't clear is that people could be potentially playing on the wrong upload based on the validity of the PS3 speed results..
