I believe we could decrypt Server -> PS3 data, so it could be useful in recreating what we need to.
MrGame knows more about the SSL protocol than I do, honestly.

Edit: I forgot, there is a key exchange during the initial process of the SSL connection... which means that scavenging information from the SSL connection in the packet capture wouldn't work.

I am hoping this is a system check where the ps3 just matches the certs together on its self. If so then I just generate my key pair hex in my public cert and then send the public cert to my ps3 and see what happens.

Jus curious, when you finish this, will it be just like mgo1? Private servers? And how long will it take you to reach that stage? Or will it be playable online? If so how much would a server for online gaming cost?

Yes, Mgo2 would be on a private server. No telling on how much time it will take. Yes it would be playable online. Not really sure, havent looked into what kind of server I need yet.

MrGame has a pretty good server right now, I forgot the specs, but it's about $7/month if I recall correctly.
It would be nice to have some sort of donation system to keep the servers running (later, when it's fully functional), but we need to make sure it's all legally-sound first.

I remember when I was reading on private servers this is how the WOW private server owners got f**ked.
But then again they where making it mandatory to donate to get certain items.
I wouldn't even want to chance a donation system for $7 a month.

On another note some people think I am trying to do this for profit or to cheat the same old people like when the server was up.
For me this is just to see if its possible and to be able to do some map glitches with some of my old pals and play a few games.
Survival and Tournament will be totally out of question, gp also.

@BaZio About the time question, Me and Nostalgous are the only ones even interested in MGO2. I have the ps3 on CFW and Nostalgous is helping me out. But schedules dont ever meet and my free time is pretty short. So its not like we try something everyday. More like once a week. So its going to take time.

Do you mean server configuration?
We don't actually need server work right now for MGO2.
We already have a server for MGO1 (and possibly MGO2) that MrGame manages, so it won't be needed.

I can get you the requests and responses needed after the login. I have already coded to the https including sending the cert.

You will need a good hex editor (Neo Hex editor works great).
You will need to do bitwise xor with the key being the same as MGO1, then you will be able to see what was sent and was was received.
